WAYS WE ARE WALKING TOGETHER
01 BLACK AND INDIGENOUS RESTORYING
A relationship-centered initiative that brings together Black and Indigenous Elders, youth, culture bearers, community stewards, storytellers, artists, and scholars to strengthen connections, share wisdom, and cultivate pathways toward healing and shared futures.
Through: storytelling, peacemaking, ceremony, intergenerational exchange, land-based listening
Through this work, participants honor ancestral wisdom and explore the histories and relationships that bind communities together, nurturing a culture of care for present and future generations of Turtle Island.
02 REMEMBERING FORWARD
A living practice of knowledge preservation, cultural revitalization, and intergenerational learning and leadership, rooted in the understanding that stories carry responsibilities as well as wisdom.
Through: honoring teachings from elders and storykeepers, supporting transmission to younger generations
As these stories are remembered and carried forward, they strengthen identity, deepen relationships, and contribute to the wellbeing of families and communities, creating ripples of remembering and renewal.
03 PEACEMAKING AND RECIPROCAL RELATIONSHIP
Rooted in the understanding that conflict can be held in a sacred way, and peace is a lifelong practice of living in good relationship with ourselves, one another, our ancestors, and all our relations.
Through: circle processes, prayer, sharing, deep listening
Listening to the wisdom carried in the lands, waters, and by our human and more-than-human relations, this work nurtures the conditions for healing, restoring relationships, and community flourishing across diverse peoples of the world.
04 WOMEN, SONG AND SACRED BELONGING
Honoring the sacred medicine women carry and their vital role in community and family, this trauma-informed work is guided by Niizhwaaswi Gchtiwaa Kinomaadwinan, the Seven Sacred Grandfather Teachings.
Through: prayerful healing circles, ceremony, song, shared reflection
Women are supported in their tenderness and their strength, expressing their gifts, healing their hearts, and strengthening the bonds that hold communities together.
